Shopping local is not a one way street. As owners of The Bare Acre we decide every day where to source goods for the shop and kitchen and we choose local over all others every single time.

Supporting local businesses has an impact that extends beyond a single purchase. That purchase is  helping to build a stronger, more connected, and sustainable community. For a small business like ours, the support of our local is essential. When you choose to shop local, you are making a choice to invest in your community’s future.

Yes, the large multiple chains might offer convenience, but they lack the local connection and commitment to sustainability that come with small, community-based businesses. By shopping with us, you’re joining others who care about where their food comes from and know that each purchase strengthens not only us but the also the community we serve.

Buying from our farm shop or food van does more than just get you a bag of produce or a cup of coffee. You’re helping us employ two local people. Each employee contributes to the  support of their own family and other small local businesses, creating a ripple effect that benefits the whole community.

But shopping local is not a one way street, as owners of The Bare Acre we make decisions every day about where to source goods for the shop and kitchen and we choose local over all others every single time.

Ber, who makes our jams, uses locally grown fruit. This choice not only adds to the overall gorgeousness of our products but also supports local farms in a small way. When you taste our jams, you’re experiencing the work of local farmers and the care that goes into local produce.

All the meat we use on the food van comes from Boylan’s Butchers in Rush because Boylan’s aren’t just a supplier—they’re a neighbour and part of our community and we know by choosing them we’re supporting quality and helping local farmers who are also part of our community.

Much of the organic seed used on the farm comes from a nearby supplier who supports local employment. This seed might cost a little more, and it’s not something we can order online, but buying from them supports a model that values sustainability and local jobs. When we plant their seeds, we know we’re investing in more than just crops; we’re backing local people who care about creating meaningful work.

When you enjoy a cup of coffee at our shop, you can sip it, knowing it’s sourced from a company right here in Fingal. This means that money spent on that coffee stays in the area, benefiting other local families and businesses.

At Christmas, we offer another chance to keep things local. Every turkey, ham, and vegetable comes from nearby producers who share our values. By choosing us for your Christmas meat and vegetables, you’re enjoying a festive meal while also supporting local agriculture, meaningful jobs, and responsible practices.

We appreciate the support we get from our customers and so when we are asked to give back by sponsoring events, contributing to projects, and supporting other nearby businesses its an easy and simple yes from us.

What we ask in return is, when you’re next choosing where to shop, consider the network you’re helping to support. When you choose us, you’re supporting a business that invests in local people, produce, and causes—all year round. Together, we can keep building a community that is connected, resilient, and sustained by the care we show for one another.
