It's More Than a Farm - It's a Destination

An Oasis of Calm

Bare Acre Farm stands on an acre and a half of sustainably managed market garden with a quirky farm-shop attached, all of it situated on the edge of the small fishing village of Loughshinny. But in reality, Bare Acre Farm and Farm Shop is much more than that.

When people talk about The Bare Acre, they talk about the quality of the homemade produce, the farmhouse bread, the scones and cakes , they talk about the people who make the farm what it is and they comment on the vibrant display of vegetables, the quality of the free range eggs, the homemade soup and the wonderful coffee. But there is something else that almost every visitor comments on, the sense of wellbeing inspired by a visit to the farm.

Bare Acre is a part of my weekends, I love buying directly from Ber and David, local organic growers, the veg can't get any fresher and it's mostly seasonal. There's a choice of plants during summer months too, and always a good coffee and home made cakes which you can enjoy outside or in a quirky shed next door. Great place to stop when on the coastal road by car or by bike.

A brilliant resource for the area, I have stopped buying my salads from the supermarket just on taste alone. The difference in the Bare Acre salad range is unbelievable, Spicy Mix, Rocket, Mixed Leaves and more. I’m also getting my Christmas Ham, Turkey and Vegetables from the farm. A farm shop like this takes time, skill and risks…well worth the trip.
