An Oasis of Calm

Bare Acre Farm stands on an acre and a half of sustainably managed market garden with a quirky farm-shop attached, all of it situated on the edge of the small fishing village of Loughshinny. But in reality, Bare Acre Farm and Farm Shop is much more than that.

When people talk about The Bare Acre, they talk about the quality of the homemade produce, the farmhouse bread, the scones and cakes , they talk about the people who make the farm what it is and they comment on the vibrant display of vegetables, the quality of the free range eggs, the homemade soup and the wonderful coffee. But there is something else that almost every visitor comments on, the sense of wellbeing inspired by a visit to the farm.

The farm is open to all our customers. It is well laid out and with growing crops, our incredibly cute kunekune pigs, our poultry and our pygmy goats, it is a fun place to explore for both the young and the young at heart.

And we love school or group visits

Since been introduced to Dave and the Bare Acre I have stopped buying my soft fruits, vegetables ,eggs and salad in supermarkets. The one word that comes to mind to describe the bare acre produce is Fresh…The vegetables have a taste, the strawberries and cherries are delicious, and don’t get me started on the pickled cucumber . Thats not all but they have a fabulous selection of home made jams, Guinness-bread and cakes. All in all the best example of organic food and at reasonable prices. Not to mention as the vegetables are home grown there is no packaging to dispose of.

A little piece of heaven! The staff is really welcoming, and will be happy to tell you more about where the fruits & veggies come from. They also sell home-grown flowers and products from other small local producers. You can also enjoy an indoor/outdoor coffee with a lovely view 🙂
